Chiropractic and Midwifery

Midwives are trained and skilled professionals who provide care for their clients throughout pregnancy, labour, and birth, and also to clients and their babies for the first 6 weeks postpartum. Midwives can attend birth at home, at a Birth Centre or at a Hospital, according to your choice.
Midwives are fully funded by the Ministry of Health and offer complete care for you and your newborn baby. If any complication arises, midwives make appropriate consultations to specialists such as obstetricians, pediatricians and lactation consultants. Midwifery Care Includes prenatal care, labour and birth, and postpartum (until your baby is 6 weeks old).
Chiropractors and midwifes have a great inter-professional support. They are aware that chiropractic care in pregnancy allows for safer and easier deliveries for both the mother and baby.
The Doctors of Chiropractic further support the midwifery philosophy for natural birthing, and the result of that interaction is the patients approaching their births with a greater sense of confidence and trust in their body’s ability to function normally. This mutual support from both professions is an incredible asset to the pregnant mother throughout pregnancy and in birth.
It is vital to take control over your health and your body. Find practitioners who support the natural process of birth, and support your decisions for you and your baby. Make regular chiropractic care a part of your prenatal choices as well. Birth is a wonderful experience and how you take care of your body throughout pregnancy, along with who you work with, will in fact lead to a more pleasant birth experience.
